AP Spanish Literature (AP Exam Review Project)
In lieu of a comprehensive final essay, you and a randomly assigned partner will create a comprehensive review packet that you will present in class and later share in print form with your classmates.
Think of the review project as a study guide that you create for yourself and for your classmates to help promote our synthesis of the entire year’s material and our success on the AP exam on 5/7.
You and your partner will be assigned a Tema from the charts on pages 509-516 of the textbook.
Each tema contains 4-6 conceptos. You choose 4 concepts and explore 4 works within each concept (the group of 3 will need to cover 5 concepts for its theme). This means that you and your partner will do a total of 16 write-ups (20 for the group of 3). You may collaborate as much as needed, proofread each other’s work, but ultimately you are expected to divide this task equally and contribute your fair share. Note, your works MAY overlap (i.e. Don Quijote may illustrate more than one concepto) but it is in our mutual interest for you to create as much variety as possible. You and your classmates will use this document for exam prep.
What is expected for each write-up:
- A concise, intelligent description IN SPANISH of how the work in question explores the Theme and Concept in question. To accomplish this, 4-6 lucid sentences should suffice. This is not a mere summary, but a collection of insights into the work’s exploration of the theme and concept.
- 3 significant quotes from the work that illustrate the relationship between your work and the concept. The quotes should be at least 3 lines each, must be typed out in full, and cited by page number from Azulejo (parenthetical citation is fine here).
- Present with your partner for 15 minutes on your given works/concepts the last week of class.
Due Dates:
A printed copy of your write-up is due at the beginning of class on Monday, April 30.
Presentations will be given by each group the final week of class. Each presentation should run around 15 minutes. The order of the presentations will be randomized, so you must be ready to present on 4/30.
You will receive an 80 point writing grade for your printed review packet and a 20 point writing grade for your presentation. The presentation should inform and engage the class and above all help elucidate the relevance of your chosen texts to the concepts you have selected.
Note: We will work on this during class next week. You will be given a separate Daily Work grade that assesses your participation and constructive collaboration during this time.
All written work must be your own (that is from you and your partner). Any attempt to submit work from the internet or source other than your own will be reported to the Dean as academic dishonesty.
Ensayo Comparativo: Lazarillo de Tormes y Don Quijote.
In an argumentative/analytical essay of four paragraphs (intro paragraph, two argumentative body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph), address ONE of the following topics with regard to Lazarillo de Tormes AND Don Quijote. Note: your essay does not need to address all of the questions in each prompt but it does need to represent an original argument (with thesis), and each argumentative body paragraph should contain at least two meaningful quotes to support your argument. Please see the PowerPoints under my English I (Power Points tab) for a clear understanding of what I look for in argumentative body paragraphs, intro paragraphs, and conclusions.
You must also include a WORKS CITED, proper MLA formatting (header, double spacing, 12 point font, Times New Roman, etc.).
There is no minimum word count but your analysis needs to be substantial. No plot summary should appear in your essay!
Temas
